The experience was challenging as we are not regular hikers but we were lucky to have Jesús as guide, who helped us to find motivation and arrive to the end, also taking beautiful pictures of us being a professional photographer. Jesús is also a passionate story teller whom made our visit to Machu Picchu unforgettable by explaining us all the history of Machu Picchu.

Saldremos de Cusco aproximadamente a las 5:00 a.m. Un autobús nos llevará hacia Mollepata (2900 metros sobre el nivel del mar) donde llegaremos aproximadamente a las 7:30 de la mañana, pararemos para tomar artículos como baterías, galletas, etc., estirar las piernas o usar los baños en un restaurante local. Continuaremos nuestro viaje a Challacancha (3850 metros sobre el nivel del mar), nuestro punto de partida de la caminata, donde nos reuniremos con el personal de apoyo (arrieros), que cargarán el equipo en caballos y mulas.
Alrededor de las 9:00 a.m., comenzaremos nuestra caminata hacia la laguna Humantay, un maravilloso lago en las montañas, (3 horas de caminata). Tendremos una vista panorámica del majestuoso Salkantay y otras montañas cubiertas de nieve, así como el valle del río Apurímac, alrededor de la 1:00 p.m., tomaremos un delicioso almuerzo en Salkantaypampa. Después del almuerzo continuaremos con la caminata hacia Soyrococha, nuestro primer campamento, donde nuestras carpas nos esperan listas, finalmente cenamos.

Hoy, la naturaleza cambiará drásticamente de paisajes secos a picos nevados y áreas tropicales. Después de un desayuno nutritivo, comenzaremos la parte más difícil de la caminata. Comenzaremos la caminata alrededor de las 8:00 de la mañana. Caminaremos, ascendiendo gradualmente, hasta llegar al punto más alto (4600 metros sobre el nivel del mar) alrededor de las 9.30 de la mañana. Apreciaremos las espectaculares vistas de las montañas y los imponentes picos nevados del Salkantay (6264 metros sobre el nivel del mar) que se conoce como el segundo punto más alto de la región del Cusco. En nuestro camino hacia abajo visitaremos el increíble “azul intenso” del lago Salkantay. Alrededor de las 12:30 p.m., tendremos nuestro almuerzo, en el área llamada Huayracmachay. Después de una caminata de aproximadamente 3 horas, llegaremos a nuestro campamento en Challway (2920 metros sobre el nivel del mar). Alrededor de las 7:00 p.m., nos recuperaremos de la caminata y cenaremos.

Alrededor de las 7:00 a.m., Comenzamos nuestra caminata, caminaremos durante aproximadamente 5 horas hacia Playa Sahuayaco y durante este período; observaremos un pueblo llamado Collpabamba, también llamado “Forest Cloudy Brow” donde se pueden observar cascadas, árboles frutales, flora variada y aves. Si tenemos suerte, podremos observar el famoso pájaro llamado “Cock of the Rocks”. Al medio día arribamos a Sahuayaco, donde almorzamos; por la tarde continuamos nuestro recorrido esta vez en transporte local hasta llegar cerca al poblado de Santa Teresa, opcionalmente los que desean pueden ir a disfrutar y relajarse en los baños termales (Hot Springs). Alrededor de las 7:00 p.m., cenaremos y acamparemos alrededores de Santa Teresa.

Clima: cálido durante el día con mosquitos.
Incluido: Desayuno, almuerzo y cena.
Después de un desayuno temprano, iniciamos nuestra caminata con dirección a hidroeléctrica por 3 horas aproximadamente, por un sendero descendente, que lo llevará a la Central Hidroeléctrica aquí tendrás tiempo para descansar y disfrutar del paisaje y el almuerzo en un restaurante local. Continuamos nuestro recorrido hacia la comunidad de Mandor, donde ingresaremos al orquideario para apreciar algunas de las 317 variedades de orquídeas de la zona, donde llegamos después de hora y media de caminata aproximadamente, la última parte del recorrido para llegar a Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu pueblo) lo realizaremos en hora y media más. A nuestro arribo llegamos al hotel (incluido en este paquete). Luego disfrutamos de la cena en un restaurante local alrededor de las 7:30 p.m.

Hoy, el día comenzará muy temprano alrededor de las 4:30 a.m., para tomar el autobús a Machu Picchu. En Machu Picchu, tendrá una visita guiada de 2 a 3 horas aproximadamente y luego podrá explorar la ciudadela y tomar fotografías, luego tomamos el bus hacia Aguas Calientes, (almuerzo no incluido), por la tarde (dependiendo de la disponibilidad), tomamos el tren a Ollantaytambo o Poroy, desde allí, lo recogeremos en un autobús para llevarlo hasta su hotel en Cusco.
