The experience was challenging as we are not regular hikers but we were lucky to have Jesús as guide, who helped us to find motivation and arrive to the end, also taking beautiful pictures of us being a professional photographer. Jesús is also a passionate story teller whom made our visit to Machu Picchu unforgettable by explaining us all the history of Machu Picchu.

Luego de recogerlos de su hotel o el aeropuerto, iniciaremos nuestro recorrido hacia el Salar de Uyuni, nuestra primera parada será en el emblemático Reloj de Uyuni que fue importado desde Alemania. Se encuentra en funcionamiento desde 1930. Continuando nuestro recorrido visitaremos el cementerio de Trenes que alberga locomotoras a vapor y vagones antiguos que permanecen abandonados desde hace mas de medio siglo.
Seguiremos en dirección a la comunidad de Colchani ubicada a 20 km de la ciudad de Uyuni, visitaremos la fabrica artesanal de sal y finalmente ingresaremos al impresionante Salar de Uyuni anteriormente conocido como Salar de Thunupa, tiene una extensión aproximada de 10.582km2, aquí recorreremos los montones de sal, el primer hotel de sal “Playa Blanca “y el monumento al Dakar, visitaremos también los bloques de sal que contienen esculturas como la Escalera al Cielo, La Mano de Dios entre otras obras rusticas hechas por los artesanos locales.
Para finalizar nuestra experiencia esperaremos la puesta de sol apreciando el Volcan Thunupa, realizaremos un brindis con piqueos y bebidas locales.
Retorno a los hoteles.
Luego del desayuno en el hotel, iniciaremos el día con la caminata al Volcan Thunupa que se encuentra a 5432 msnm, a los pies del Volcán se encuentra la comunidad de Coqueza desde donde iniciaremos con el ascenso al volcán. La primera parte del recorrido la haremos a bordo de un vehículo para luego comenzar a caminar pasando por Chullpas y miradores que nos brindaran una vista espectacular del salar.
En el descenso, visitaremos la pequeña lagunilla de un bofedal apreciando Flamencos y llamas. Continuaremos hacia la comunidad indígena de Ayque para apreciar ruinas y chullpas en este pueblo precolombino, finalmente visitaremos la isla Incahuasi, aquí apreciaremos los cactus gigantes (Echinopsis atacamensis) propios de la región que miden hasta 10 metros de altura, con esta corta caminata termina nuestro día e iniciamos el retorno a Uyuni.
