In the afternoon: we will take a guided tour of the city of Cusco and the surrounding archaeological complexes.
We will begin with the Cathedral, located in the Main Square.
Its façade and interior are predominantly Renaissance in style, featuring a richly decorated interior with cedar and alder wood carvings.
Next, we will visit the Temple and Convent of Santo Domingo and Qoricancha (the former Inca Temple of the Sun).
We will then continue to the outskirts of the city to explore:
Sacsayhuamán: Originally a construction of religious character, but due to its location and style, it was considered by the Spanish and chroniclers as a military structure.
Q’enqo: Known as a “labyrinth,” it is considered a sacred site where ceremonies were held in honor of the Sun, the Moon, and the stars.
Puka Pukara: A site that likely served as a tambo (resting and lodging place).
Tambomachay: Also known as the “Inca Bath,” it played an important religious role related to the worship of water and the regeneration of the earth.
At the end of the tour, we will return to Cusco and transfer you to your hotel.
