Travel to the Amazon Iquitos – 3 Days
Overview
Disconnect from the world and reconnect with nature.
More than just a tour, this is a journey into the heart of the world’s longest river.
Over three days, you will become an explorer of untouched forests, navigating waters where pink dolphins leap at sunset and ancient woods hold age old secrets.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 01: Lima / Iquitos / Amazon River Lodge (L, D)
Look for Turkey Vultures, black-fronted nunbirds, and with luck, families of marmosets, titis, and squirrel monkeys.
After a breathtaking Amazon sunset, board a boat for a night excursion through the river’s tributaries.
With no artificial lights, listen to the “symphony of the jungle” and observe the nocturnal fauna along the riverbanks.
Under clear skies, admire the brilliant moonlight and the vivid constellations of the Southern Hemisphere.
Return to the lodge for a delicious dinner and a well-deserved rest.
Night in Amazon Lodge.
Day 2: Amazon River Lodge (B,L,D)
Day 3: Amazon River Lodge/ Iquitos / Lima (B, L)
On your final day, discover one of the most iconic and impressive botanical wonders of the Amazon basin before heading back to the city.
After a delicious breakfast, we navigate toward the quiet oxbow lakes of Yanamono Island.
Witness the Victoria Amazonica, the largest water lily in the world.
These plants are famous for their massive circular leaves, which are strong enough to support the weight of a small child.
If we are lucky, we will see their spectacular blooms.
These flowers open as pure white on the first night and magically transform into deep pink by the second day.
Learn about the fascinating relationship between these giants and the scarab beetles that pollinate them.
Return to the lodge for one last authentic Amazonian lunch and complete your check-out process.
We board our speedboat for the final journey back to Iquitos City.
Our team will coordinate your transfer to the airport according to your flight schedule for your return to Lima.
