Inca Trail and Amazon in 14 Days

Breakfast at the Hotel.

Then we will pick you up from your hotel and head toward the Callao Islands.

You will come into contact with nature and discover the flora and fauna of the Palomino Islands on this half-day tour. We will visit La Punta, Chucuito, El Camotal, San Lorenzo Island, and El Frontón.

We will then arrive at Cavinzas Island, a guano island where we will see a large colony of birds and fascinating rock formations.

After that, we continue to the Palomino Islands, where you will be able to swim alongside sea lions, over 5,000 of them in their natural habitat (30 minutes of free time).

We then continue to observe the habitat of Humboldt penguins.

The excursion ends at approximately 14:00 hrs.

You will be transferred back to your hotel at the end of the tour

Night in Lima.

 

The tour begins at approximately 03:30 hrs as we depart toward Paracas.
Arrival at around 07:30 hrs.

Reception and assistance upon arrival at approximately 08:00 hrs, followed by a transfer to the pier in Paracas.

Ballestas Islands Tour: Visit this group of islands where you can observe many bird species, including pelicans, as well as several sea lion colonies.

At approximately 11:00 a.m., we will head to Ica to board our buggy.

After about 20 minutes, we will reach the desert area and ride up and down a series of large and small dunes in the buggy, enjoying plenty of adrenaline.

Along the way, we will make stops at dunes that offer ideal conditions for sandboarding, suitable for both beginners and experienced participants.

Our driver-guide will safely teach you how to practice this activity so everyone can enjoy it.

You will also be able to admire the desert landscape, the Huacachina Oasis, and we will make stops for photos.

We will enjoy the sunset as we return to Ica.

Transfer back to your hotel in Lima.

At the scheduled time, transfer to the airport for your flight from Lima to Cusco.

Upon arrival, you will be met at the airport and driven to your hotel.

In the afternoon, enjoy a guided tour of Cusco, the historic capital of the Inca Empire, along with four important archaeological sites.

The tour begins at the Cathedral on the Main Square, an impressive example of Renaissance architecture with beautifully crafted cedar and alder wood carvings.

You will then visit the Temple and Convent of Santo Domingo, built over the famous Koricancha, the most important Inca temple dedicated to the Sun.

We then head to the surrounding hills to explore Sacsayhuamán, an extraordinary site known for its massive stone walls, followed by Qenqo, a ceremonial center with carved passages used for rituals dedicated to celestial deities.

The tour continues to Puka Pukara, believed to have been a military outpost or rest stop, and finally to Tambomachay, a water sanctuary associated with purification and renewal.

After the visit, return to your hotel.

At approximately 8:00 AM, you will be picked up from your hotel for our full-day tour of the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

We will visit the town of Pisac, known for its handicraft market and its Inca archaeological complex, where you can observe an irrigation system, an astronomical observatory, a solar clock or Intiwatana, and extensive terraces.

In the afternoon, we will visit the archaeological site of Ollantaytambo. Built during the Inca period as a fortified area, it includes a temple, terraces, and an urban sector. Two main areas can be distinguished: one dedicated to worship and religion, and another used for housing.

It was an important administrative center that likely also served military purposes, as evidenced by its walls and watchtowers.

After visiting the archaeological park of Ollantaytambo.

Transfer to your hotel.

Transfer from the hotel to the train station to board the train toward Kilometer 104, the starting point of the Inca Trail. Along this route, we will visit the archaeological complex of Chachabamba (2,270 m).

We then ascend to the highest point of this section, where Wiñayhuayna (2,650 m) is located.

This is the most important archaeological site along the Inca Trail route after the Machu Picchu sanctuary.

The Inca Trail continues toward the Sun Gate, or Inti Punku, from where you can enjoy an impressive first view of Machu Picchu (2,400 m) in all its natural beauty.

After, we descend to the Machu Picchu sanctuary, passing through only before continuing down toward the town of Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo).

Early in the morning, you will be picked up from your hotel to board the bus that will take you to the Machu Picchu citadel, arriving after a 30-minute ride.

We will have a guided tour of approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, during which you will explore the agricultural area, the Sacred Plaza, the Main Temple, the Temple of the Three Windows, and the full magnificence of this enigmatic city.

Bus down to Aguas Calientes.

When returning, please arrive at the train station 30 minutes before your train’s departure.

Travel back to Cusco, arrival, reception, and transfer to your hotel.

You will have the day free to rest and explore a bit of the city’s historic center on your own.

Early in the morning.

You will be picked up from your hotel in Cusco to begin the excursion toward the southeast of the city, passing through Cusipata (3,339 m.a.s.l.) until reaching the village of Llacto.

Here, you will see herds of alpacas and llamas, along with the characteristic flora of the region.

From this point, we begin our hike of approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, as we continue, you will enjoy distant views of snow-capped mountains and stunning landscapes.

We then arrive at Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca).

After exploring the summit and taking photographs, we begin the descent of about 1 hour and 30 minutes until we reach Llacto, where our transportation will be waiting to take us back to Cusipata for lunch (included).

From there, we board our vehicle and return to Cusco, arriving in the city at around 17:30 hrs.

At the appropriate time, transfer from the hotel to the airport to board your flight to Puerto Maldonado.

Upon your arrival in Puerto Maldonado, the Capital of Biodiversity in Peru, you will be welcomed at the airport. We will then begin our program with a bus tour of the city.

Afterward, we head to the Port of Capitanía, where our boat will be waiting to take us along the Madre de Dios River (a meandering river) toward our lodge, located thirty kilometers from the city of Puerto Maldonado.

Along the way, you will observe rural lands used for agriculture and livestock near the city, weather permitting, you may also see colorful plants such as giant-flowered heliconias and have the chance to spot wildlife including capybaras, caimans, river turtles, herons, cormorants, and birds of prey and scavengers.

Upon arrival at the lodge, you will be greeted with a delicious nectar made from tropical Amazonian fruits and guided to your comfortable bungalow reserved for the occasion.

Once settled in, a hearty lunch will be served in our cozy, rustic-style dining room.

CAIMAN LAKE

In the afternoon, you will be guided by our specialist along a well-marked interpretive trail to Caiman Lake, a small lagoon where you may observe black caimans and white caimans efficient predators at the top of the food chain that thrive on the abundant aquatic fauna inhabiting the lake, represented mainly by fish species.

Upon returning to the lodge, a delicious dinner will be waiting for you, followed by free time to enjoy unforgettable moments at our bar, equipped with an excellent game room and offering every beverage you can imagine.

At night, the local wildlife will lull you with the sounds and melodies of countless birds and other creatures of the rainforest.

The magic begins with the songs of birds in the Amazon paradise, waking up to the call of the howler monkey.

A hearty breakfast will provide the energy needed for a morning full of new experiences.

APU VÍCTOR LAKE

After breakfast, we begin a hike into the deep forest, following well-maintained and clearly marked trails. Along the way, we will walk through riverbank forests, ascend to higher forest areas, descend into floodplain forests, and then climb back up into hill forests.

During the hike, you will witness an impressive variety of wild flora and fauna.

Along the trail, you will identify fruit trees, timber species, and medicinal plants that sustain both wildlife and local communities in the Amazon rainforest.

Among these are aguaje, mahogany, Brazil nut, catahua, cedar, cetico, copaiba, and hihuahuaco.

With patience and silence, you may spot large mammals such as tapirs and peccaries; rodents like the giant otter, capybara, agouti, and armadillo; primates such as the howler monkey, squirrel monkey, and capuchin; reptiles like the iguana; amphibians such as frogs; and birds including the guan, partridge, golden parakeet, and blue-yellow-red macaws.

In the rainforest, you will also see insects such as butterflies, beetles, crickets, cicadas, ants, and a variety of centipedes and millipedes.

We arrive at the majestic Apu Víctor Lake, surrounded by vast wetlands and towering trees.

From its large observation platform, you will enjoy a panoramic view of the lake and observe parrots, macaws, toucans, camungos, hoatzins, herons, and other animals such as caimans and turtles.

Various fish species enter Apu Víctor Lake during the rainy season floods, other wildlife associated with the lake includes tortoises, freshwater turtles, coatis, deer, pacas, and giant river otters.

After returning to the lodge, a refreshing lunch will be waiting for you.

MONKEY ISLAND

In the afternoon, accompanied by our specialist guide, we will visit Monkey Island, located just a few minutes from the lodge in the heart of the Madre de Dios River.

This island features lush vegetation and is home to several primate species such as spider monkeys, capuchins, and squirrel monkeys, as well as small mammals like coatis and squirrels, along with a wide variety of colorful birds.

We will end our visit by enjoying the sunset, witnessing one of the most spectacular views in the rainforest.

Back at the lodge, you will enjoy an exquisite farewell dinner.

After waking up to the sounds of the rainforest, you will enjoy breakfast at the lodge before beginning the journey back to the city.

We will board our boat once again to travel along the Madre de Dios River toward Puerto Maldonado, and from there transfer to the airport to board your flight to Lima.

Upon arrival in the capital, a representative will welcome you and accompany you on the transfer to your hotel, where you may rest or continue exploring the city on your own.

We will have an overview of Lima’s main attractions, the route includes viewing a Pre-Inca site in Miraflores and the Historic Center, including a visit to a colonial convent, climbing its tower, and enjoying the changing of the guard.

On the way to the Historic Center, we will observe the Huaca Pucllana archaeological complex (no entry).

We will visit the Bodega & Quadra Museum, where you can see the Lima wall built in the 17th century and an exhibition of objects showing society and development during the Viceroyalty.

We will visit the Convent of Santo Domingo, evidence of the importance of Catholicism during the Viceroyalty, with the possibility of climbing the tower to observe the city.

Observation of the Changing of the Guard (subject to the Government Palace schedule).

In the afternoon, we will visit the Magic Water Circuit (unique of its kind).

After an hour of lights, music, and lots of water, we will head to a restaurant for a delicious buffet dinner with a live show.

Following the show, return to the hotel.

Night in Lima.

Breakfast at the hotel, followed by a timely transfer to the airport and departure.
