Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrival in Lima

 

Arrival in Lima and welcome to Peru. Assistance and private transfer to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure.

Overnight in Lima.

Day 2 – Lima – Paracas – Ica – Huacachina – Lima (BB, L)

Box breakfast at the hotel. Pick-up from your hotel in Lima and transfer to Paracas. Upon arrival in Paracas, board a speedboat for a boat excursion to the Ballestas Islands. Along the way, we will sail through the bay and pass by San Martín Port. From the sea, you will be able to see the famous Candelabra geoglyph.

Upon reaching the islands, admire their striking rock formations and observe marine wildlife, including sea lions, guano birds and Humboldt penguins.

 

We will then return to the pier and continue towards Huacachina. We will travel to the city of Ica for lunch at a local restaurant, followed by a tasting of wines and pisco, Peru’s emblematic spirit.

 

We will then continue to the Huacachina Lagoon, where we will embark on a thrilling dune buggy excursion through the desert, followed by sandboarding.

At the end of the excursion, we will return to Lima.

Day 3 – Lima City Tour (B)

Breakfast at the hotel.

The morning is free for personal activities or relaxation. In the afternoon, we begin our guided tour of Lima, discovering the city through its three historical periods: pre-Hispanic, colonial and modern.

We will enjoy a panoramic view of Huaca Pucllana. We will also visit Lima’s Historic Centre, home to more than fifty colonial monuments and buildings. Highlights include Paseo de la República, San Martín Square and the Main Square.

We will also see the Government Palace, the Cathedral and the Municipal Palace, among other important landmarks.

The tour includes admission to the monumental complex of San Francisco, one of the finest examples of colonial religious art in the Americas. A highlight of the visit is its underground crypts, known as the Catacombs.

We will then explore contemporary Lima, visiting some of the city’s most traditional residential areas, including El Olivar in San Isidro, Miraflores and Larcomar.

Day 4 – Arrival in Cusco (B)

Breakfast at the hotel.

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Cusco. Upon arrival in Cusco, reception at the airport and transfer to your hotel.

Day 5 – Cusco City Tour (B)

Breakfast at the hotel.

At approximately 9:00 a.m., we will begin our city tour. We will visit Cusco Cathedral and the Koricancha, or Temple of the Sun, which is now part of the Santo Domingo Convent.

 

We will then travel outside the city to visit the impressive archaeological complex of Sacsayhuamán, traditionally known as the head of the puma.

We will also explore Qenqo, a labyrinth-like religious centre dedicated to the worship of the Earth; Puca Pucara, meaning “red place”, which served as a military and control centre; and finally Tambomachay, the Temple of Water, which was used as a centre for the worship and veneration of water.

The afternoon is free for personal activities or relaxation.

Day 6 – Excursion to the Sacred Valley of the Incas (B, L)

Breakfast at the hotel.

We begin our journey through the Sacred Valley. Our first stop will be the village of Pisac, where you can explore its traditional artisan market and experience the local culture and way of life.

 

After exploring the archaeological site of Pisac, we will continue along the Vilcanota River. We will enjoy lunch in the town of Urubamba before continuing to the impressive fortress of Ollantaytambo.

We will explore its cobbled streets and archaeological complex. At the end of the tour, we will continue to the railway station to board the train to Machupicchu village.

Overnight in Aguas Calientes.

Day 7 – Machu Picchu, the Magnificent Inca Citadel (B, L)

Breakfast at the hotel.

Early in the morning, we will collect you and transfer you to the bus station, where you will board the bus to the entrance of the magnificent Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu.

The visit to the citadel will be accompanied by a private guide. After exploring the site and enjoying some free time to take photographs, we will return by bus to Aguas Calientes, where you can enjoy a delicious lunch.

Finally, we will board the train back to Cusco. Upon arrival, reception and transfer to your hotel.

Day 8 – Excursion to Maras & Moray (B)

Breakfast at the hotel.

Excursion to the Maras Salt Mines, a remarkable collection of more than 3,000 salt ponds that have been exploited since Inca times.

We will then visit Moray, an ancient agricultural laboratory where the Incas experimented with different microclimates.

At the end of the excursion, we will return to Cusco.

Day 9 – Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca) (B, L)

Pick-up from your hotel at 3:30 a.m.

We will begin our excursion towards the south-east of Cusco, travelling through Cusipata before reaching the village of Llacto. Along the way, we will see beautiful herds of alpacas and llamas.

 

We will then begin a hike of approximately two and a half hours. During the trek, we will admire snow-capped mountains and breathtaking landscapes.

Finally, we will reach Rainbow Mountain, Vinicunca. After enjoying the summit and taking photographs, we will begin our descent, walking for approximately one and a half hours to Llacto.

From there, we will take our transport to Cusipata, where an included lunch will be served.

We will then continue by vehicle back to Cusco, arriving in the city at approximately 5:00 p.m.

Day 10 – Departure from Cusco – Connecting Flight to Lima (B)

Breakfast at the hotel.

At the appropriate time, transfer to the airport for your flight to Lima and onward return flight to your country of origin.

LUGGAGE RECOMMENDATIONS – MACHU PICCHU

  • Hand luggage on the train to Machu Picchu: maximum 5 kg / 11 lb, with total dimensions not exceeding 1.57 m / 62 inches.

 

  • If you are staying in Machu Picchu or the Sacred Valley before continuing to Machu Picchu, we recommend leaving your main luggage at your hotel in Cusco and taking only what you need for the excursion.

There is also an option to arrange luggage transportation from your Sacred Valley hotel to your Cusco hotel, or vice versa, at a cost of USD 75 for 1 to 3 pieces of luggage, according to the published information.

  1. Rates

 

Rates are expressed in United States dollars (USD). Rates are subject to availability and may vary depending on travel dates, hotels, services and suppliers. Child rates and special conditions are subject to the applicable policies in force.

 

  1. Insurance

 

We recommend purchasing travel insurance covering trip cancellation, repatriation and international medical expenses. We also recommend consulting your doctor and reviewing any applicable vaccination requirements and travel health advice.

 

  1. Air Tickets

 

Airfare is subject to change until final ticket issuance. Flight schedules may be modified by airlines and may be subject to restrictions, penalties and additional conditions.

 

  1. Luggage and Liability

 

DMC Peru Agency recommends that passengers have travel insurance covering luggage loss. We cannot accept responsibility for lost or delayed luggage, forgotten belongings or personal items left in hotels, vehicles or at visited sites.

 

  1. Itineraries

 

The itineraries have been carefully planned; however, due to operational requirements, weather conditions, social situations or other unforeseen circumstances, it may be necessary to modify the order of activities or the route. Passengers will be informed accordingly.

 

  1. Services Not Included

 

Passengers are responsible for administrative procedures, passports, visas, insurance, excess luggage, drinks, laundry, communications, gratuities and any other services not specifically stated in the itinerary.

 

  1. Unused Services

 

Services interrupted or cancelled due to weather conditions, force majeure, strikes, social unrest or other circumstances beyond the suppliers’ control will not necessarily be eligible for a refund. DMC Peru Agency will provide assistance and endeavour to modify the itinerary in the passenger’s best interests.

 

  1. Documentation

 

Each passenger is responsible for ensuring that they have all the documents required for their journey, valid and in good condition, including passports, visas where applicable, and any other documentation required by transit or destination countries.

 

  1. Rooms

 

Requests for double, matrimonial, twin or triple rooms, as well as extra beds and/or cots, are subject to hotel confirmation.

 

  1. Booking and Payment Policies

 

For services requiring immediate issuance or booking, non-refundable deposits may be required. Payment deadlines will depend on the services and suppliers involved. Payment constitutes acceptance of the booking terms and conditions.

 

  1. Cancellations and Refunds

 

Cancellation and refund requests must be submitted in writing. Charges will depend on the notice period and the conditions established by each supplier. Machu Picchu entrance tickets and railway tickets are subject to their own issuance, cancellation and refund regulations.
