Next, explore four remarkable archaeological complexes on the city’s outskirts:
Sacsayhuaman: Famous for its massive stone blocks, some reaching 9 meters in height and weighing 120 tons, meticulously fitted together with incredible precision.
Qenqo: A significant Inca ceremonial and ritual center carved into rock.
Puka Pukara: An ancient fortress believed to have served vital administrative and military functions.
Tambomachay: Known for its sophisticated fountains and water channels, a stunning example of the Incas’ advanced hydraulic mastery.

Once finished, board the return train to Cusco.
Upon arrival, a representative will meet you for the transfer to your hotel for a well-deserved rest.

After approximately 2 hours of travel, we will arrive in Cusipata for a continental breakfast.
We then continue for another 1.5 hours to the final village, the starting point of our trek.
The hike takes approximately 3 hours round-trip, including ample time to take in the scenery.
If you prefer not to trek the entire distance, you may rent a horse from local villagers; please note that horses can only reach a point 100 meters from the summit, so the final stretch must be completed on foot.
Along the way, enjoy spectacular views of the multicolored mountains, grazing camelids, and the imposing Ausangate mountain range, the highest peak in the Cusco region at 6,385 meters (20,950 ft).
After the descent, we return to the restaurant for a traditional lunch before heading back to Cusco, with an estimated arrival between 5:00 and 6:00 PM.
Important Notes:
The Rainbow Mountain tour can be replaced by the Palccoyo Mountain excursion, which is at a lower altitude and offers a gentler walk.
To enhance your experience, ATV (Quad Bike) tours are available (please inquire for costs and availability).
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel.
At the scheduled time, you will be provided with a private transfer to the airport for your flight to Lima and your connecting flight home.

He showed us around all of the beautiful scenery and made sure our experience was personalized. I will absolutely be recommending Paul to anyone I know who comes to Cusco!Posted on Tripadvisor Mac F2026-06-14Verified Why read? Just book it! Went on a trip to Peru (Cuzco and surrounding areas) with some friends for a week and needed a guide who was friendly, knowledgeable, and adaptable. Our guide, Paul, was all of that and more with lots of experience and became a friend right off the bat. All of our experiences and excursions were made so easy with the help of Paul and team, we never had to worry. He even stopped on the way back from a trip to give us an even more authentic experience of local culture. The cost was absolutely worth my experience and I don’t feel like I overpaid whatsoever - I actually feel like I got quite the deal. This tour is great for anyone with a can-do attitude who has a sense of curiosity and adventure. Just know that Peru is at a very high altitude and you’re walking and climbing lots of stairs, so be prepared for that!
